What Type of Warranties do HVAC Manufacturers Offer?

When choosing a new heating and air conditioning comfort system, it's worth knowing what warranties are available depending on the brand you choose to go with.

Manufacturer Warranty list
A solid manufacturer for HVAC products will offer a warranty that backs the quality of their product.

Warranties for a Replacement Heating and Air Comfort System:
Warranties will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, just like when purchasing a vehicle. Once you replace your system, you will need to register your warranty right away.

The typical warranty for most HVAC systems is 5 years with the heat exchanger warrantied for either lifetime or 10 years. The warranty on your home comfort (HVAC) system covers the following parts:
  • Coils
  • Exchangers
  • Compressors
  • Humidifiers
  • Manufacturer-provided thermostats
  • Internal components

For most manufacturers, the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and is not transferrable.

Often with heating and air conditioning manufacturer warranties, parts that are designed to work with R-22 refrigerant are not covered under a warranty. When purchasing a new comfort (HVAC) system, be sure to buy a system that takes R-410A refrigerant.

A warranty on your new heating and air conditioning system does not cover everything. Below is a list of typical items not covered by the manufacturer warranty:
  • Shipping costs for replacement parts
  • Labor costs for HVAC technician
  • Third-party failures from external parts
  • Parts not purchased from the manufacturer
  • Improper installation from an HVAC technician
  • Pieces, such as the cabinet that do not affect product performance

In some instances, the warranty may be voided:
  • Homeowner does not register warranty with the manufacturer within the specified time period
  • Improper installation of equipment
  • Different manufacturer replacement parts added to equipment
  • Not taking care of recommended system maintenance by a professional

What Our Customers Are Saying

"We just had our pre-winter service.  James was the technician and he is very professional and courteous.  I am not surprised, however, because that has been my experience with all of Air Tech's technicians."
